  • Overview

    General Summary:  The Motive Power Service Technician will troubleshoot batteries, chargers and related equipment problems along with handling comprehensive preventive maintenance schedules.  Service Technicians will communicate with customers face to face and through email to properly address the repairs and maintenance being completed on their equipment, while providing a professional demeanor and superior customer service.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Well-honed troubleshooting and diagnostic acumen to repair electrical breakdowns on batteries and charging systems.
    • Clear communication of all necessary and preventive repairs being completed on our client’s equipment via written or verbal communication.
    • Strong documentation on all services being performed with exchange of communication and authorization from our customers on work orders. 
    • Must be able to follow and observe all company and client safety guidelines, while wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment provided and properly disposing of all waste materials after each job is completed. 
    • Maintain all work orders with your dispatcher and log the time necessary to complete a work order through your electronic tablet. 
    • Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized company van, including a full inventory of parts and tools along with scheduled maintenance to the dealership for oil changes and related preventive service. 
    • Responsible for maintaining personal tools required for performing the job effectively and safely.
    • Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.


    • Knowledgeable of reading electrical schematics, blueprints, and service manuals on an electronic device.
    • Proficient with electrical AC-DC conversion, battery theory and high voltage potential.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills through electronic device or in-person with customers and internal departments. 
    • Solid foundation with understanding chemical reaction between acids and alkalis.
    • Working knowledge on how to properly solder and weld lead components.
    • Exhibit a professional demeanor and develop customer relationships, while providing superior customer service.
    • Perform calculations involving conversions, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
    • Maintain a solid understanding of industry innovations and product availability to make recommendations based on customer needs and requirements.
    • Must be able safely operate drills, grinders, forklifts, hoists, overhead cranes and personal hand tools.

    Education and Experience:

    • This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED
    • 2+ years experience in electrical theory, motive power battery and charger repair in a similar environment or equivalent in college or vocational education. 
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
