  • Overview

    General Summary:  The Transportation Supervisor provides support for all Divisional freight movements by way of scheduling and monitoring all truck transportation daily, inventory tracking via internal ERP system and Achieve, generating customer invoicing, and dispatching. Supervises employees related to dock, general building administration and shop invoicing. This position works closely with all Departments to complete customer requests. 

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Manages and directs efforts of Shop Assistant, Shipper/Receiver and Shop Trainees to ensure efficient operations of department.
    • Assesses performance issues and departmental concerns and manages disciplinary actions with assistance from Rental/Renewed Manager.
    • Schedules daily freight movement and invoicing of all freight to external customers and all internal departments.
    • Provides coverage backup to employees inclusive but not limited to the following tasks:
    • Creates Shop and Transportation work orders in current ERP system.
    • Closes Shop and Transportation work orders when jobs are completed.
    •   Generates invoices from Shop and Transportation work orders; verifies and mails to customer as required.
    • Assists Rental and Renewed Departments to help cover peak times as well as time off as needed.    
    • Dispatches and routes all transportation drivers for all deliveries and pickups of the Central Division.
    • Establishes and maintains new relationships with transportation companies.
    • Verifies and codes all freight invoices.   
    • Monitors transportation expenses and analyzes cost savings and increased efficiency alternatives.
    • Maintains contact with customers and other employees for the use of information exchange.
    • Works with all Central Division departments to coordinate freight movement for out-of-state customers.
    • Maintains asset locations for in-house, customer, and warehouse inventories via ERP and Achieve bar coding systems.
    • Verifies and files completed BOL’s as well as supporting documentation associated with the Transportation Department.
    • Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.


    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word.
    • Knowledge of inventory management and asset allocation.
    • Skilled in time-management and able to work independently.
    • Skilled in customer relations.
    • Skilled in both written and oral communications.
    • Ability to communicate with internal and external customers in order to expedite customer equipment repairs.
    • Ability to work well under pressure, and with a diverse group of people.
    • Ability to follow through, ensuring all work orders are closed and billed with attention to detail.
    • Ability to plan and prioritize work.          
    • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple customer accounts.
    • Ability to apply sound judgment and reasoning.

    Education and ExperienceThis position requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. A minimum of 1-3 years customer service experience in freight coordination and the material handling industry. Position requires use of phone, 10-key and general computer knowledge.
